Jordan Transformer was founded in 1973 under the banner of U.S. Transformer, Inc. Over the years we grew our capabilities and staff to meet the rising needs for electrically sound, power transformer options for the utility and industrial markets. During the fall of 2004, the former U.S. Transformer, Inc. was purchased by Dick Ames, the founder and owner of Ames Construction, Inc., one of the largest road, civil, and mining construction firms in the United States. Ames Construction, Inc. has extensive experience in the power plant and utility marketplace and has annual revenues in excess of $600 million. Dick Ames has been a long time Jordan, Minnesota native and decided that the new company should take the name of the town where the plant has been providing quality transformer repair and rewind services to the utility and industrial marketplace for the last 38 years.
The new ownership and capitalization structure has allowed the company to move forward with plant improvements and personnel additions. Since 2004 we have enhanced our shop with the additions of a new Test Bay with impulse and partial discharge capabilities, and renovations throughout the plant. Dedicated clean rooms for winding and assembly have been refurbished, and air pallet systems were added for easy and safe transport around the shop. These are just a few of the recent additions to our plant.

Jordan Transformer specializes in the redesign and remanufacture power transformer with base ratings up to 80 MVA and voltages of up to 161 kV with full impulse and partial discharge testing capabilities. We also have specialized Field Service teams that can safely and efficiently get your transformer from door to door.
